Barrows, lootbeams and item values

Barrows had been sitting in the code since the fork and had never once been playable. It is now, and so is a reward room at the end of the Theatre of Blood, a guided tour for brand-new accounts, and a pillar of light over any drop worth walking to. Behind all of that, every item in the game now has one authored coin value, which fixes prices, alchemy, drop highlighting and what you keep on death in a single pass.
Highlights
- Barrows works - Dig the mounds, fight the six brothers, take the tunnel and loot the chest. Four separate faults had kept it unplayable, one of which skipped the rest of the server tick every time a brother spawned.
- Lootbeams - A pillar of light over any drop at Rare or above, coloured by the same tier as the item's name on the ground. Both beam styles and the tier that triggers one are yours to set in the client.
- One price per item - A single authored coin value now drives the Grand Exchange guide price, the items you keep on death, duel staking and drop rarity. Roughly 950 tradeable items used to quote a 1gp guide.
- The Theatre pays out in a reward room - Verzik's throne grinds open after the kill and the party climbs into the treasure chamber to search their own Monumental chest.
- A guided tour for new accounts - The Sanguine guide flies the camera round seven landmarks at home, one line each, at whatever pace you click.
- Voting credits again - Every topsite postback was being refused on the live server, so nobody's vote paid anything. Four listings work now, and there is a tradeable Vote ticket.
New content
- Barrows - Five brothers from their mounds, then the hidden crypt's tunnel to the chest for the sixth. The chest pays a full packed Barrows set 1 in 10, and the rest of it is coins, blood money and noted supplies rather than the runes and bolt racks it used to hand out. It is listed in
::dropslike any other boss. - Theatre of Blood reward room - Loot is no longer poured into your inventory where you stand. The throne opens into the native treasure chamber, everybody gets their own chest marked by an arrow only they can see, a purple aura shows the whole party when someone's chest holds a unique, and the Teleport crystal is the way out.
- The Sanguine guide - He stands at the bank and offers the tour to every new account;
::tourreplays it whenever you like. Seven stops covering banking, teleports, the Armoury, boss tasks, blood pacts, tournaments and the quest tab, which is the menu everything else lives in. He will not run it in the Wilderness. - Inferno practice mode - TzHaar-Ket-Keh will start you at wave 68 or wave 69 if you have already sacrificed a fire cape. A practice run pays nothing at all: no cape, no tokkul, no pet roll and no completion, because you skipped 67 waves to get there.
- Vote ticket - A tradeable, stackable token worth exactly one vote point, bought from the vote shop for one point and exchanged back for one. Points themselves stay untradeable, so this is the only way to sell a vote to someone who would rather pay than click.
- Vote shop restock - Blood keys at 40 points and blood caskets at 75 join the shelf. Graceful, the Quest point cape and the Max cape came off it, because a vote shop selling prestige capes makes voting the shortest route to one.

Combat and balance
- The item value ladder - Values are anchored to the Armoury's coin prices and capped at 100M, so a boss unique can no longer sort below a rune scimitar in what you keep on death. Fire capes, dragon defenders and the imbued rings were all worth zero until now, and the whole Desert Treasure 2 set was priced at a placeholder.
- High alchemy is capped at 50,000 coins a cast - Alchemy is now 60 per cent of an item's value rather than a separate number, and nature runes are spawnable, so an uncapped payout would have let any drop be cashed out without ever touching the Grand Exchange.
- Blood money gear counts as loot - Anything reachable only through the blood money shop was classified as common by omission, which is why a 45,000 blood money Ultor ring hit the floor with no highlight and no beam. The blood money ladder is now read alongside the coin one.
- Ranged and magic can attack out of a death dot - Standing on another player's tile and clicking attack left you inside them firing nothing, forever. The step out was being queued every tick and thrown away by the movement half before it could land.
- Blood Tournaments run hourly - Cadence moved from two hours to one and the minimum field from four to six. The signup lobby is also held at six bodies now: backfill bots walk in from the first real signup and each real entrant displaces one, so the room is real players first and never empty.
- Tournament bots play the tribrid bracket - They used to swing the Kodai wand as a club, never drink a brew or a restore, and pray the perfect counter on the same tick you switched. Their prayer read now sits behind a two to five tick reaction with a one in five chance of reading it wrong, so switching is worth doing again.
- Twelve legacy shops removed - They were inherited stock selling bronze to rune, leather, robes, runes and food, all of which you can already spawn. Six shops remain, every one built for this server.
Interface and quality of life
- A missing item no longer costs you the whole preset - Loading a preset you were one super restore short of used to refuse the load after it had already banked your gear, leaving you standing in Edgeville with nothing on you. It now loads what you own, leaves out what you do not and tells you which.
- Preset Manager polish - Load Preset is a real stone button under the spellbooks rather than a line of gold text, the on-death row is centred over the action icons, the reorder arrows are the game's own art instead of
^andv, and the close button is no longer drawn on the window frame. - Boss teleports draw proper icons - Every row on the Bosses tab was a 3D body squeezed into 20 pixels, which read as a column of grey blobs. The rows now use the game's own hand-drawn 25x25 boss icons, with two drawn from scratch for the Demonic gorilla and the Elder Chaos Druid.
- Donator ranks renamed - The mineral names are gone: the ladder is Donator, Super, Extreme, Elite, Legendary, Mythical and Uber, with a new set of chat crowns. Existing accounts and Discord roles carry across on their own.
- Pets behave like pets - Pick-up and Metamorphosis were the wrong way round on about half the roster, five pets had no right-click menu at all once summoned, and seven items the Bestiary listed as pets did nothing when you dropped them. A rolled pet also can no longer land on the floor, and your follower is still there after you log back in.
- The vote window stopped papering the chatbox - Clicking a listing echoed the full URL into chat, so working down six rows filled it with raw links. It just opens the site now.

Client and performance
- Volume sliders behave like volume sliders - All three channels fed slider position straight in as an amplitude multiplier, so half travel was barely quieter and nothing sounded quiet until the handle was almost off. Every notch is now an even 4 dB step, and a fresh install opens on 40 per cent music against 60 per cent effects.
- The client can render plugin models - Placing an animated model in the world had never worked in this fork, which is what the lootbeam needed. Lighting a model was also silently making it unanimatable, which is why the first beam stood perfectly still.
- Discord Rich Presence - Your Discord profile can show that you are playing Sanguine, where you are and how long you have been on, with your character name opt-in.
Fixes
- Decanting potions duplicated doses - Combining two doses removed the wrong inventory slot twice: it left both potions in place and destroyed whatever was sitting in slot one. Decanting also handed back the wrong vial.
- The Nightmare and Phosani stopped fighting back - Both spawn asleep and spend the whole fight transformed, and the check for "does this thing fight back" was reading the sleeping form. They acquired you, faced you, and never swung. Vorkath, Verzik, Cerberus and Nex also no longer attack during their transformation cinematics.
- The tournament window advertised gear a dangerous bracket never hands out - The idle window drew the next safe bracket's loadout even when the line beside it read "Next: dangerous", telling players gear was provided for the one format where everyone brings their own.
- RSPS-List credited nothing - Their callback sends back a secret they mint themselves and renames the username field in flight, so a perfectly authenticated vote found no player and answered with a cheerful 200.
- Teleporting out of the Nightmare's arena - Both Nightmare arenas swallowed a home teleport silently, leaving the barrier as the only way out.
Behind the scenes
- A refused vote is now loud - All three kinds of refusal were silent, and one of them answered 200 so the topsite never retried. Each one now writes a warning and raises an alert with the caller's address, per site and per reason, so one broken listing cannot mask another.
- New items have to be priced - The build fails if a new item, drop or pet ships without a coin value, which is what let a placeholder shadow the Bow of faerdhinen at 1gp in Grand Exchange search.
