The home plaza at dusk with 117 HD graphics on, lit lanterns and long shadows across the Halloween dressing

117 HD graphics now ship with the client and switch themselves on, and while the Halloween event runs they bring their own dusk to home. The Blood Fountain's tree has grown to forty pacts, the Blood maledictus drops an idol that turns an upgraded Wilderness weapon into a blood one, and Skotizo has a new chase. The Wilderness bosses can no longer be safespotted.

Highlights

  • 117 HD graphics - the HD renderer comes with the client and switches itself on the first time you log in. There is a "117 HD graphics" box in the settings tab's Display page if you would rather play without it, and the client falls back to the standard renderer on its own if HD fails or your frame rate collapses.
  • Forty blood pacts - eight new pacts across the Wrath, Vitality, Ward, Hunt and Avarice veins, paid for in vitae as well as blood money. Soul Stealer and Endless Vein are ladders now, so the strongest form of each is the top tier rather than a single purchase.
  • Blood idol - everyone who fights the Blood maledictus rolls 1/400 for an idol. Used on an uncharged upgraded Wilderness weapon it makes a blood form that heals you for 10% of the damage it deals in the Wilderness.
  • Umbral scimitar - Skotizo pays it 1 kill in 400, to one random person who fought it, whatever their damage. It hits 2 harder than the blood abyssal tentacle, keeps the dragon scimitar's Sever, and trails purple wisps off the pommel.
  • No safespots on the Wilderness bosses - a boss that lost its target comes back for you, the ranged and magic ones stay ranged, and all of them path round scenery instead of walking into it.
  • Halloween - ghosts drift through home's walls, Death sells an Auto collect that puts your kill sweets straight into your pack or your bank, and the Grim Reaper has a unique at last.

New content

  • Blood idol - the Blood maledictus's new chase, one a kill, rolled by everyone who hit it. Use it on an uncharged webweaver bow, ursine chainmace or accursed sceptre and you get the blood form: a dark shimmer on the weapon, 10% lifesteal against monsters in the Wilderness, and its own ether pool. It fights exactly as the weapon it came from, and Revert hands the idol back rather than dismantling it for ether.
  • Blood surge - killing the Blood maledictus turns every revenant in the caves into a blood revenant for an hour, for everybody.
  • Umbral scimitar - a slash sword on Skotizo's table at 1/400 per kill, picked for one random contributor rather than the top three or the killer. The blood abyssal tentacle's stats with 2 more on the max hit, the dragon scimitar's attack tab, stances and Sever, no poison. It is tradeable, and the General Store will not buy it.
  • The eight new pacts - Hemorrhage gives +4% ranged and magic damage against monsters; Bloodsworn Covenant restores 25% special energy on a boss kill; Swift Communion drops the wait on communing to 20 minutes; Sanguine Harvest gives a 5% chance of an extra ore, log or fish; Steeped takes 25% off a blood soak dip; and Soul Stealer, Endless Vein and Crimson Fortune each gained a tier above them.
  • The Black h'ween mask - the Grim Reaper's one unique. Everybody who fought him rolls their own 1/100, and it is in the drop viewer with the rest of his table.
  • Halloween ghosts - up to three of them walk fixed routes through home while the dressing is up, straight through walls, fading in and out as they go.
  • Auto collect - bought from Death once for 25,000 blood money and 25M coins, then switched on and off for nothing. Sweets from a kill go to your inventory, then your bank, or your looting bag if you are in the Wilderness, and only what none of those can take drops on the floor.

Combat and balance

  • Wilderness bosses cannot be safespotted - a boss that retreated could get stuck retreating for good if something stood on its spawn tile, which left it deaf to every hit you landed. A retreat now ends when the boss is back in its walk radius or has stopped moving, Spindel, Venenatis, Artio, the Chaos Elemental and the Crazy Archaeologist no longer need to stand next to you after a melee swing, and every Wilderness boss paths properly.
  • No free melee camping - Callisto lands half of a melee hit through Protect from Melee, and his spiderlings and the skeleton hellhounds no longer hold you in single-way combat, which was stopping Spindel taking her own turns.
  • The Corporeal Beast fights the room - it takes somebody else in the chamber once its target dies, teleports or walks out, it never goes tolerant, and a hit of 15 or more from a player it is not fighting turns it one time in five. The King Black Dragon's lair never goes tolerant either.
  • Wilderness weapon charges - the first 1,000 revenant ether used to be locked in the weapon as an activation you could never spend. That is gone on all nine weapons: one ether is one charge, up to 16,000, and a charge message finally tells you what you have. A blood form costs 1 blood money per charge on top of the ether.
  • Soul Stealer and Endless Vein - Soul Stealer saves half your misses against monsters at tier I, 80% at II and all of them at III, and the 3% minimum hit now sits on tier III. Endless Vein drains run energy 25% slower, and its second tier 50%. Anyone who owned the old pacts has the tiers that match what they bought.
  • Crimson Fortune - gives +3% on a chase roll.
  • Revenant Caves aggression - the caves run OSRS's ten-minute tolerance timer, tracked the same way the wiki describes it, so standing in one spot eventually stops the revenants starting on you. A revenant already fighting you keeps fighting, and the Blood maledictus never goes tolerant.
  • Halloween shelf - the tiers now open at 35,000, 65,000 and 100,000 lifetime sweets rather than the old pace, masks cost 15,000, and the Donator box row stocks ten copies at 5,000 each.
  • Daily tasks - the two PvP rows are out of the pool, and the Cerberus and Alchemical Hydra rows only come up if your Slayer level is high enough to attack them.
  • No banking at the altars - the ferry refuses to open your bank inside the Abyss or any runecrafting altar chamber. The run is the skill.
  • Restore pool - loading a loadout used to fill your special attack bar outright, which was a free trip to the pool a step away from it. A load now puts the bar back to what you walked in with and asks the pool, sharing its 60-second wait, and a full bar is never charged.

Interface and quality of life

  • Find a boss by its drop - the Bestiary search box now matches item names as well as boss names, so "twisted bow" leaves the Great Olm and "fang" leaves Zulrah. ::drops <item> answers the same way and names the other droppers in chat.
  • Slayer reward books - each Buy row's Info panel names and prices that row properly, with its own description and the trade-in cost, instead of printing the same default line for everything. A free row reads "Cost: Free".
  • Chat lookups - !clues, !total and !cmb answer for whoever typed them, off the same boards !pb and !kc read.
  • Home on the world map - Home, Blood Arena, Events Arena, Rest Yard, Gambling Yard and Trading Hall are labelled on the map and in its search list, and the base game's Edgeville and Monastery labels come off.
  • Grand Exchange clerk - there is a second clerk in the Edgeville bank, a tile north of the Make-over mage.
  • Blood Pacts glyphs - Endless Vein II and Bloodied Strike have been redrawn so they read at a glance.
  • Referral codes - a YouTuber's code has no cap on how many people it pays out for.
  • Videos page - the site lists creators' Sanguine videos on one page, linked from the nav and the footer.

Client and performance

  • 117 HD - installed and switched on once per profile, first in the plugin list, with a safety net per machine: a renderer crash or a collapsed frame rate puts you back on the standard GPU renderer rather than leaving you with a black screen. Switch it off once and it stays off.
  • Halloween darkness - the HD dusk is its own switch, in the plugin list right under 117 HD's row and as a "Halloween darkness" box under the graphics one, so you can keep HD and lose the gloom. It turns on and off live.
  • Launcher 1.0.12 - double-clicking the bare jar on Windows used whatever Java owned the file association, and an old Java 8 sitting beside your Java 11 killed it with "A Java Exception has occurred." and nothing else. The jar now starts on Java 8 and up, finds your Java 11 and restarts itself on it, and only refuses in words if there is no Java 11 anywhere.
  • Revenant weapon charges - a charged Wilderness weapon shows its charges on the item in your inventory.
  • Umbral shimmer - the purple caustic on the Umbral scimitar and slayer helmet drew as flat stripes on the standard GPU renderer. It moves there now, the same as it does under HD.
  • Spectral echo - the shade is drawn half see-through, so it reads as an echo rather than a second player standing next to you.

Fixes

  • The Loadouts orb - it sat on top of the minimap under the logout button in both resizable layouts. It is placed per frame now and lands in its seat.
  • The Tasks orb - the first chat filter change of a session renamed it back to "Open Store" and "Bond Pouch" for the rest of the session. It keeps its own name.
  • Chat channel tabs - picking the Clan, Guest or raid party tab put a staff crown beside your own name in the chatbox.
  • Support crowns - no Support crown drew at all once two Support staff were online.
  • One crown per line - a chat line shows your staff crown if you have one, then your game mode, then your donator rank, so an ironman who donated speaks under the helm.
  • Commands mid-line - "hello ::wb" was sent as the command and the line itself was never said. Only a line that starts with :: is a command.
  • Discord linking - ::link said it was opening Discord and nothing opened. It now takes you to Discord's consent screen in your browser and brings the link back into the game.
  • Blood void helms - all three are see-through again, and the scalp underneath no longer shows through as a skin-coloured blob.
  • Chat filter - a blocked word slipped past when its capitals did not match, so a line like "myserver.com" got through.
  • Blood arena monks - the four monks and Abbot Langley have left the arena, and the hard clue step that sent you to one is retired.
