Getting started
What a new account should do in its first hour, and where everything at home is.
Sanguine is a player-versus-player and bossing server. Training gear is free and the fights are the content, so the first hour is about learning where things are rather than grinding for a scimitar.
The one question asked at login
A brand-new account is asked its account type before anything else. That answer is one-way: an account can drop to a stricter mode later but never climb back, so a mode is chosen once and lived with. Regular gives up nothing and is the right answer unless you already know you want otherwise - ranks and modes is the whole ladder.
After that the Sanguine guide offers a walk around the home area. Take it. It is ten stops, a few minutes, and it finishes with the Preset Manager open on a full set of gear with Load as the next click. If you turned it down, ::tour offers it again at any time.
A Regular account arrives with its combat levels already at the top and its other skills at 1. It is not dressed for you: the kit comes off that preset, and the bank starts with a stock of supplies.
Everything is at home
::home puts you in Edgeville. Almost every service in the game is within twenty tiles of the bank:
- the bank booths, or
::bankfrom anywhere once you own the Sanguine Ferry pact - the Portal Nexus - the teleport window,
::teles, and every row of it - the gem stall beside the bank: no requirements, no gates, and the game's coin faucet,
::market - Blood Krystilia by the Wilderness ditch, who hands out boss tasks and pays her own points
- the three blood masters - lumberjack, angler and prospector - the gathering lane
- the Rest Yard, ten stations that pay experience while you are away from the keyboard,
::rest - the gambling yard just east of it,
::fp - the blood fountain, whose permanent perk tree is bought with blood money,
::commune - the Tournament Manager, who runs an automated bracket every hour,
::tourny - the Armoury and the Supplies counter, the two coin-priced shops,
::armouryand::supplies
Free gear, and the gear that is not
::spawn opens the item spawner, and most of what you would train in is in it, free and instant. Nothing about a whip is interesting, so nothing about a whip is a grind here.
What the spawner does not hold is anything worth chasing: boss uniques, raid gear, the charged weapons, the cosmetics. Those are earned, and every item page on this wiki says exactly which fight, shop or reward pays it.
The two currencies
Coins come out of the gem stall, the General Store and a few drop tables. Blood money comes off every boss kill and is what the combat side of the game is priced in. Neither converts into the other, and both are worth reading about before you spend a large pile of either.
A first evening
::tasks- three daily tasks and a lifetime list, each naming what it pays.::marketfor a coin float, then::armouryand::suppliesto spend it.::dropsto read a boss's whole drop table, then::telesto go and fight it.::caand::safor the achievement ladders, which pay reward bundles per tier.::clogto see what you have collected so far.
Where to ask
::yell reaches everybody online. ::discord opens the community server in your browser. ::bug and ::suggestion open the in-game form, which goes straight to the staff channel.
