The Grand Exchange and the General Store
Where to sell things: the player market, the coin counter that always buys, and why alchemy is switched off.
Two ways to turn an item into money, and they answer different questions. The Grand Exchange finds you another player. The General Store does not need one.
The Grand Exchange
::ge, or the clerk at home. Eight offer slots, and every buy offer is matched against a real sell offer somebody else placed - there is no shop behind it and no invented price. Your items and coins are held by the server while an offer stands, and an offer survives a restart.
The screen is four pages: your offers, a browse page, a buy and sell setup page, and a search page that filters as you type.
Ironman accounts cannot use it at all, in either direction.
The General Store
::gstore, or the keeper standing in the Edgeville bank. He buys anything for coins, and that is the point: on a server this size a duplicate boss unique has no buyer, and an unsold drop reads as junk to whoever is holding it.
- He pays 40% of an item's value, tapering down to 10% above his ceiling, so the top of a drop table still pays more than the middle of one without paying its full worth.
- What he buys goes on his shelf and resells to other players at 130%.
- Player-sold stock expires 24 hours after the sale that put it there, and the clock keeps running while the server is down.
He is a backstop for a thin market, not a junk sink, which is why the price is high enough to be worth the walk and low enough that nobody farms it.

What he will not buy
Anything free. If the item spawner will hand it to you, selling it would be minting coins out of nothing, so it pays zero. Skill capes are in that same category and can neither be spawned nor sold.
Alchemy is switched off for exactly this reason: it is a second cash-out nobody can price, and with it gone the General Store is the only route from an item to coins in the game.
The two coin counters
The Armoury sells gear. Supplies sells everything a trip burns, and is the only source of dragon bolts, bolt tips and wrath runes. Both are priced in coins, so the gem stall at one end and these two at the other are the whole coin economy.
