The spellbooks

Four books, where to switch between them, and which spells on each one actually do something here.

There are four spellbooks and you can be on any of them. Switching is free, has no requirement and no quest behind it, and you can do it as often as you like.

Switching

Three doors, all the same chooser:

  • the chaos altar at home - "Pray-at" is the first option, "Spellbook" is the second
  • the Altar of the Occult, out in the world
  • ::modern, which switches you back to the standard book from anywhere

Switching is refused in combat and in the Wilderness, which is the only rule about it.

Standard

The whole Old School standard book, slot for slot: the four combat elements, the curses, alchemy (which is switched off - see below), the enchants, the jewellery spells and the teleports. Every teleport that leads somewhere the game has opens the teleport window instead, which is the same trip with more destinations behind it.

Alchemy does nothing here. Turning items into coins is the General Store's job and only its job, so that there is one place where an item becomes money and one rate for it. The Grand Exchange and the General Store explains why.

Ancient

The classic ancient book: the twelve combat spells in their four elements and three sizes, plus its teleports. If you PK, this is the book most people are on.

Lunar

Forty-four slots in the live game's own order. Two of them do the thing they say:

  • Lunar Home Teleport
  • Vengeance, which is the reason anybody is on this book

Fifteen teleports open the teleport window. The other twenty-seven slots are drawn in their real positions, greyed, and say so if you click them - they are the OSRS spells this server has no use for, kept in place so the book reads correctly rather than deleted and leaving holes.

Arceuus

Forty-six slots, and unlike lunars this book is mostly live: the whole Arceuus combat set, the teleports and the self-cast utility spells all work, with their four buff timers drawn on screen.

Not shipped: the nine thrall spells, the four reanimation spells and Resurrect Crops.

::arceuus switches straight to it.

Runes

Runes come from the Supplies counter, Aubury's counter, drop tables and Runecrafting. The rune pouch carries three stacks outside your inventory and pays for spells out of them, so the book lights up the same way it would if you were carrying them.
